4 private companies are developing space flight capacity to lift cargo to International Space Station

The space frontier is open.

Popular Mechanics reports in The 4 Spaceships Vying to Send Crews to the ISS just what their title says.

There are four companies developing lift capacity:

  • Blue Origin, funded by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos
  • Boeing
  • Sierra Nevada Corporation
  • SpaceX

The article describes the approach of each company and their status.

SpaceX is the outfit that has two successful launches to the space station under their belt. They have only delivered cargo so far. Target is to have a manned resupply run by the end of 2015.

Like I said, the frontier is open.
