“The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.”

The quote is from Helen Keller and Philosoblog discusses it in a post of the same name.

Deep down we all want our life work to make a big impact on the world. Those of us working or volunteering or donating in the nonprofit community want to change the world.

Reality check – for the vast majority of us, the world will not be radically better because of what we did when we are gone.

Yet the quote from Helen Keller says we still need to do our part and persevere in doing good. Galatians 6:9 says “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

We can make a big difference in little things.

We can give a little push forward in the big things.

Sometimes it is the small things that make a huge difference in the life of another. Sometimes it is all of us pushing forward that accomplishes big things.

Keep pushing. Persevere.
