The A-4 Skyhawk was an attack aircraft used by the Navy during the Vietnam war. For your viewing pleasure, check out these photos of the restored aircraft on the flight deck of the Midway Museum.

Most notable pilot of the A-4 of whom I am aware is John McCain. He was flying an A-4 when he was shot down over North Vietnam. He was captured and was held as a POW until February 1973.

Armament included a 20 mm cannon. Hard points could carry Zuni rockets, 500 pound bombs, and other munitions.

Photo of an AGM-62 Walleye, optically guided bomb. Pilot would control the descent of the bomb using a camera in the nose of the bomb. These were the leading edge of precision guided munitions.
